I am the child of the moon. Some may say a lunatic.
I was born in a small town in México. February 12th, 2001. I speak spanish, english and toki pona. I am a feminist, a commuinist and married to a lovely sunshine. You can't have me.
But you can know me; know that my phase changes daily. Alyssa, Aly, jan Alisa, meli mun; my names are many.
I made a playlist that resonates with my starbound soul. Play it on the left down corner. Enjoy it. If you wish to return to melimun, click on my big ass forehead.
I was born in the desert
My mother hailed from the sky and my father was the soil crushed by her powerful feet. That violent love print was my cradle. My delusional tongue doesn't betray my origins; the desert is harsh but my childhood was mostly happy. I learnt to love the shy cacti and roguish cachoras. I learnt to tolerate the heat as well.
My parents made me a sister for me to play with and another one for me to bother. The former is more sun than moon and the latter is a twinkling star. Stars and suns are quite different, actually, but they are both equally impressive. Shining and sparkling wherever they are. Sun girls just like to go out every night and won't return until morning. Star sisters are always watching over you.
I used to be a havoc witch. I only knew bad spells. I still have nightmares about becoming that young selfish hag again. The sea —the distance— did wonders for me. I still am pretty much a dirty woman but now it's mostly salt and sand.
kulupu olin mi.
In other words, now that the departure allows the longing, I often think of the best of these people and all the stupid fights seem to vanish. I greatly recommend the exodus to all the troubled kids in the world.
I am a wicked witch of words
From the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
Poetess n. (po·et·ess): a girl or woman who is a poet.
The magic I wield is no gift but curse, for I am unable to write a normal paragraph without indulging in poetic bullshit lest I fall asleep from boredom. I am not a poetess because I have 'mastered the art of poetactics' but because poetry has forever fried my brain in a way I could never recover from. My point is: Do have compassion for my soul.
If you must blame someone for my condition, I would point to my local library which took me on a reading spree which lead me to the foulest crackhouse any teenager can fall victim to: my high school's bookclub, Café Literario. I fear they may still be out there, corrupting naive children like I once was with pedantery, coercing them to write the cringiest masterpieces anyone in the neighborhood has ever read. I look back on it with nostalgia and dread. I have a section in this website dedicated to our material, you should look for it.
I know I speak ill of them but I do urge you to read my poems, if not poetry in general. Of course, feel free to ignore my words but I guess if you are already here, you definitively must be going down the rabbit hole. We love a new victim. Give my stuff a read, I take a while to produce something worthwhile —like an oyster and its pearls, I wrote about it once— but reactions are oh so great. I love causing you to feel something, bad or good. I want the taste to linger in your mouth not for selfish grandiose reasons but to know someone else gets it. That's the whole point. Now back to my antics . . .
I love playing games!
When I was around 5 years old my father purchased an XBOX for me, with Project Gotham Racing 2 and Halo 2. As an undercover girl at the time, cars obviously were the most boring thing in the world and the aliens in Halo were so scary I couldn't go very far. Lucky for me, my father somehow knew someone who offered to "hack" my console and add hundreds of games for free . . . Super Nintendo games. Even though I grew up in the two thousands, I spent all my childhood playing old "retro" videogames, specially RPGs. I fell in love with Final Fantasy, Super Mario RPG, Terranigma and Secret of Mana.
My father gave made me cry a lot when I was a kid but I probably owe him my most joyous moments as well. He unknowingly shaped my obsession for fantasy and adventure which lead me to love TTRPGs as an adult, me and my best friends play every week and has become integral to our sanity in this harsh world. I also like boardgames, to the surprise of no one. I love playing. No nouns required, just the verb suffices. I guess I am also a victim of ludopathy, the good kind.
My father also tried getting me into sports with no success, he used to take me to a bunch of baseball matches. I have good memories in the stadium but none related to the game. I remember I once met a girl who had a Barbie game on her 3DS and I watched her play and groom her virtual puppies. I remember watching our local team win big games and everyone running towards the field with joy and party-lust. Beer rain and adults screaming like children. That was probably the happiest day in my town, the ride home was filled with honking cars trying to replicate our local chant. I specially remember one morning that my father took me to the stadium when there was no game at all. We were playing baseball just the two of us in the big green field. It seemed we had the whole world to ourselves. The big leagues are boring but the mundane can be fun.
mi ken toki kepeken toki mute.
Spanish is my mother's tongue, obviously. I studied english in school but surprisingly I never aquired it very well, I had but a general grasp, even so when I was a young adult looking for work I ended up working in a call center (hell) and thus practicing so much that way that now I am C2. I guess that does prove it is the easiest language to learn. English opened a world of content for me, including toki pona lessons I found on youtube from jan Misali. In short, toki pona is the smallest language in the world, each word is packed to the brim with meaning ant that makes it very interpretative, it is so human in an era of artifical content. It is also very easy to learn, if you already are a bilingual it will be a piece of cake. To some, it is a therapeutic or philosophical exercise; it makes it easier to put organize your thoughts. It is fun to figure out how to communicate ideas when you are limited by the bare essentials of human experiences and needs. As an example:
What's up with the moon?
From the Ampora-Andegaweńska dictionary.
melimun n. (me·li·mun): a calque from toki pona's "meli mun" which means "moon/star girl". That would be me.
The moon and I go way back, she is a strong symbol of mine. A symbol of esoteric powers, the beyond and the femenine. I don't really believe in witchcraft but it is fun to close your eyes and play along, and as you already know I never turn a game down. My connection to the moon is only stronger through my link to the sea. The rivers give me great peace, the eternal flow is healing. My second name is Diana to honour this covenant. I am only one of many lunatics, every girl and woman who feels out of place, who looks in the sea what the land took from them and feels in the nightsky a nostalgia for a bastion they never had is as moon-touched as me. The rabbit is my spiritual animal, this website; my burrow.
At the end of the day it's just a personal cosmology based on aesthetics and aware, the moon must continue her course while we falter behind. It is mostly an excuse for me to write like an oracle of destiny and be ominous and shit. I love being ominous and shit. I be here farming aura as you kids say...
